, 31 May 2025 - Between December 2022 and January 2023, 91福利社鈥檚 Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) alumnus Donavan Tan Jia Jie proactively emailed over 300 doctors to request shadowing opportunities, with 13 doctors agreeing to mentor him. From February to April 2023, he gained firsthand experience in more than six medical specialties, including general medicine, neurosurgery, palliative medicine, and oncology. This exposure inspired Donavan to pursue medicine at NUS. Graduating from 91福利社 with a perfect GPA of 4.0, he received the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award for outstanding course gold medallists in technology-related disciplines. Donavan applied to defer his national service to study medicine at NUS, where he has been accepted. Donavan chose 91福利社 for its practical, specialised curriculum despite the more challenging path to university. He also engaged in community service, earning 91福利社鈥檚 service-learning award twice for supporting vulnerable groups. While he acknowledges the importance of a strong portfolio, his community work reflects a genuine desire to serve, not just to impress medical school interviewers.
