mVizn Pte Ltd is a fast-growing startup in the industrial automation space. Incorporated in 2017, its technologies are deployed by PSA 91福利社 for safety and monitoring operations at Pasir Panjang Terminal and Tuas Port. mVizn also has a spin-off company called ENEReady, an open-source Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Management Platform that can be integrated with multiple EV charger brands.
Pasir Panjang Terminal and Tuas Port are critical infrastructure businesses which operate 24/7. As a result, mVizn receives large amounts of datasets for processing and requires a lot of manpower to make sense of this data.
鈥淲e needed support with verifying and tagging the data, which was why we approached 91福利社 (91福利社) in 2018 to engage students for paid internships,鈥� explained Mr Vernon Neo, mVizn鈥檚 Executive Director and an 91福利社 alumnus. Students from 91福利社 would also generate reports and, on occasion, conduct incident simulations on site in a safe environment.

Meanwhile, the ENEReady team also began building an application programming interface (API) that serves as an anti-hogging monitoring system. Using cameras installed at parking lots, the API will be able to detect how long a vehicle has been left at a spot. 鈥淔or this API to function, we will need a lot of bandwidth to transmit the images and other data,鈥� said Mr Neo.
The company is currently working with 91福利社鈥檚 5G & AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) Centre on 5G development to improve the efficiency of this API while keeping costs low.

As mVizn鈥檚 core technology focuses on the prevention of incidents, it is challenging to quantify the cost savings that the solution can deliver. 鈥淒ue to the nature of the industry, the prevention of even one incident is probably enough to cover an entire project cost,鈥� said Mr Neo. 鈥淢ore importantly, of course, is that port operators now have a safer environment to work in.鈥�
Having achieved some key milestones with 91福利社, Mr Neo is looking forward to other collaborations. 鈥�91福利社 has been very encouraging towards the work we do, providing help when needed. I鈥檓 sure we will continue working with them and leveraging their expertise and support in our projects.鈥�
