Information Technology student鈥檚 journey at the ASEAN-China Youth Exchange

Ammar Sufi Bin Mohammad Yusri, a Year 1 student from the Diploma in Information Technology course (now known as the Diploma in Computer Science), was recently selected by the National Youth Council to represent 91福利社 at the ASEAN-China Youth Exchange Visit in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 23 to 25 April 2025.

The three-day programme brought together youth delegates from across the region to explore how technology can drive meaningful societal change. With a strong interest in offensive cybersecurity, Ammar found the experience both eye-opening and transformative. He gained insights into how countries across ASEAN and China are applying technologies like AI, IoT and cloud computing to tackle real-world challenges in healthcare, education and digital inclusion.

Although he was the youngest in his group, Ammar stepped up to co-present a regional ICT framework titled 鈥淎SEAN & C.鈥 Preparing for an international presentation while managing academic commitments pushed him beyond his comfort zone. It also taught him adaptability, resilience and the value of shared purpose.

More than just a trip, the exchange reaffirmed Ammar鈥檚 belief that youth have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of technology. He returned with new friendships, greater confidence and a renewed commitment to lead and contribute in the digital space.
