Team rm -rf* the School of Computing won the 1st Runner-Up in the Grand Finals of the PolyFinTech100 API Hackathon. The team competed against the other four Category Champions in the 91福利社 FinTech Festival held at 91福利社 Expo on 16 Nov 2023.

PolyFintech 100 API Hackathon is an annual inter-poly competition aims at promoting fintech skills among students. This year, since the preliminary round, more than 700 students from five polytechnics participated in five categories. Team rm -rf* stood out in the Generative AI Category sponsored by Singlife. Their project, 鈥淪INGen鈥�, was conceived to address a critical challenge in the financial sector: information overload and decision anxiety that customers face when exploring insurance products. The team developed an innovative solution that leverages the capabilities of a custom Large Language Model (LLM). 鈥淪INGen鈥� is an Infomercial Generation AI designed to create personalised, short-form videos based on Singlife鈥檚 product range. This tool is a game-changer for financial advisors, enabling them to engage with customers more effectively with tailored advice.

鈥淥ne of the most valuable aspects of this experience was the chance to communicate and collaborate with industry professionals from Singlife and Microsoft. This collaboration not only enhanced our technical skills but also provided us with invaluable insights into developing robust tech solutions that align with business use cases in the financial space.鈥�
