Course Objective
This course equips participants with essential knowledge and advanced level of familiarisation with:
(a) Equipment, instrumentation, and controls used for cargo handling on chemical tankers
(b) Awareness of proper planning, using checklists for various cargo handling operations
(c) Enhanced awareness to always apply safe procedures when carrying various operations on-board chemical tankers
(d) Identifying operational problems and solving them
(e) Promoting safety culture and protection of the Marine environment
(f) Assisting and coordinating response measures, during emergencies

Participants, duly qualified in accordance with Section A-V/1-1, Paragraph 3 of the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Code are most suitable for taking this course. They should also have specific duties loading, unloading, and care-in-transiting chemical tanker cargoes. Covered key topics include chemical tanker safety, fire safety measures, pollution prevention, safe operational practices, obligations under applicable rules and regulations. Competence requirements as given in table A-V/1-1-3 of the STCW Code, is included.
