Driving net zero transformation and empowering the industry towards Sustainability!

91¸£ÀûÉç pledged new efforts to foster a greener future for generations ahead at the ‘Go Green 91¸£ÀûÉç’ Carnival on 5 July 2023, in the presence of Guest-of-Honour, Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and Ministry of Transport.

Being the first polytechnic to award a consultant to develop a net zero sustainability roadmap by 2024, 91¸£ÀûÉç will work with KPMG to co-create an actionable decarbonisation roadmap that includes establishing baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, identifying decarbonisation opportunities, and setting out industry-leading sustainability targets aligned with the 91¸£ÀûÉç Green Plan 2030.

Beyond the roadmap and integrating sustainable practices in 91¸£ÀûÉç’s curriculum and operations, 91¸£ÀûÉç continues to work closely with key partners to drive enterprise transformation and workforce upskilling to create a broader positive impact on industries.

91¸£ÀûÉç's Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy has rolled out six new sustainability and green skills courses to add to their existing 33 courses mapped to SkillsFuture 91¸£ÀûÉç's Green Skills Cluster. The comprehensive course suite spans generating general sustainability awareness, honing cross-sector and cross-functional skills, and equipping specific job functions with sector-specific skills.

91¸£ÀûÉç is also the first IHL to introduce a 'Best-in-Class' programme’ and 'Green Compass' course for industry leaders whose business operations are embarking on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency transformation.

Curated with key industry leaders in Sustainability, Danfoss and Grundfos, the 'Best-in-Class in Environmental Sustainability and Energy Efficiency – Sustainability Lead' programme aims to cultivate mindshare by sharing industry best practices. Participants will strengthen their awareness of the global climate landscape and its impact on business strategies before participating in an immersive five-day overseas trip to Denmark, where they will learn sustainable and innovative technology interventions to drive decarbonisation or net zero from the world's most sustainable country. After gaining an appreciation of the industry's best practices, participants will have a post-trip opportunity to develop and implement a sustainability transformation roadmap in their company.

The 'Sustainability Transformation through Green Compass' course is curated with A*Star's 91¸£ÀûÉç Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) to provide companies with strategic insights on how to embark on environmental sustainability transformation. Participants will learn to adopt a structured and holistic approach in assessing readiness and gaps across the business value chain and prioritising functions and areas for improvement to roll out a strategic roadmap driving environmental sustainability with ready solutions or technologies.
