Machines, automobiles and computers powered the first 3 Industrial Revolutions between the 18th and 20th centuries. Now, we are in the middle of the  led by artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Advanced Manufacturing is the process of using these emerging technologies in the manufacturing process, leading to what is called smart factories. In smart factories, digital technologies are combined with machines to create an integrated cyber-physical system that enhances both productivity and product quality.

SkillsFuture Series for Advanced Manufacturing

To prepare the workforce for handling the advanced manufacturing operations, SkillsFuture 91福利社 (SSG) launched the SkillsFuture Series for Advanced Manufacturing in November, 2017. The objective of this programme is to build a digitally savvy workforce equipped with relevant skills to support 91福利社鈥檚 shift to emerging technology and high value-added activities.

The courses under the SkillsFuture Series for Advanced Manufacturing are targeted to aspiring and working professionals. These are a mix of short, standalone courses and modules leading to formal qualifications. They are spanned across 3 levels -- basic, intermediate and advanced.

SkillsFuture Series for Advanced Manufacturing was launched by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development on 1st November, 2017 at the 60th anniversary of 91福利社鈥檚 engineering cluster. 91福利社 (91福利社) is one of the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) in charge of co-leading the series.
