Provides students with an understanding of the operations of diverse and dynamic facilities management industry. It covers the scope of work under the facilities manager鈥檚 purview, job role of the facilities manager in different types of assets, namely commercial (retail, offices), industrial, business parks, infrastructural (airports, trains, cruise liners), institutional (teaching institutions, hospitals), recreational (hotels, resorts, country clubs, theme parks, attractions) and residential (public and private housing), the key players, stakeholders and regulatory bodies in this industry and their inter-relationship.

This module aims to give students an understanding of the principles & procedures of elementary construction of various building elements such as structural elements and architectural components. The common renovation and refurbishment works to buildings including floor, wall and ceiling finishes. The physical characteristics and understand the properties and behaviour of the common building materials used in buildings structure and their furnishings. Equip students to be competent, reliable and employable.

Provides students with an understanding of the principles of management. Students will be introduced to the process of management, decision making, organisation behaviour & culture, organisation structure & design, leadership and motivation theories, group dynamics, communication and interpersonal skills.

Provides students with the essential features of spreadsheet to support data analysis for commercial applications. Topics covered include spreadsheet applications, fundamental data analysis, professional presentations, and proper documentation. This module will impart the necessary skills to analyse worksheet data, apply fundamental data analysis techniques to improve productivity and streamline their day-to-day operational work. Equipped with these fundamentals, students will be able to apply these skills to construct commercial and operational models for today鈥檚 fast changing business environment.

Develop critical and analytical thinking skills, along with the ability to present your point of view with credible and relevant evidence. Enhance your knowledge and appreciation of local and global issues covered in the 17 SDGs, with a focus on the former.

This module aims to help students discover their strengths, values and interests. It also supports students in making informed educational and career choices to achieve their career aspirations.

Gives students an understanding of leisure facilities and other amenities and their maintenance and management. It covers leisure facilities such as external works, club houses, gyms, swimming pools, spas, Jacuzzi, saunas, steam rooms, games rooms, tennis and squash courts, business centre, playgrounds and landscaping gardens.

This module aims to equip students with the skills in the interpretation of technical drawings and drafting of details related to events and/or facilities management. Students will learn the fundamentals of manual drafting and computer aided drafting.

Equip students with the knowledge of electrical and plumbing services systems including electrical installation and distribution, artificial lighting, gas installation, water supply, sanitary plumbing and drainage systems.

This module aims to give students the basic skills and understanding necessary for effective customer service in facilities industry. Students will also learn the four components of Customer Relation Management via information, process, technology and people.

Acquire the skills needed to write in clear and concise English to effectively communicate an intended message to your target audience. Apply these skills when writing for specific contexts, such as scenarios related to the SDGs.

Leverage digital communication to engage, inspire and impact stakeholders diligently. Learn about responsible Digital Citizenship and how you can create engaging and impactful messages through various digital platforms and tools.

Develop data fluency skills such as formulating questions, processing and analysing data to articulate numerical and graphical summaries. Build a simple data dashboard to generate insights and support a solution for a chosen SDG.

This module aims to give students an understanding of the factors leading to building deterioration and defects. Give students the ability to identify common building defects, to diagnose their causes and understand their respective preventive and remedial measures.

Gives students an understanding of the applicable legislations governing the management of strata titled properties including residential, office, retail, industrial and mixed developments. Students will also learn the function of a Town Council in the management and maintenance of a public housing estate.

This module aims to give students an understanding of the importance of property & facilities management in the overall success of an organisation and its business. The various aspects of property & facilities management including planning, organisation and execution of maintenance work, keeping records and documentation, asset management, operation, etc and legislations governing maintenance of properties in 91福利社 will be covered. Provide students with an understanding of how the operations in the FM industry functions for different types of building. The module also aims to raise awareness of UN SDG 9: 鈥業ndustry, Innovation, and Infrastructure鈥� and UN SDG 12: 鈥楻esponsible Consumption and Production鈥�, as part of Facilities Operations & Communications.

To give an understanding of the indoor environment and mechanical engineering systems including ventilation, air conditioning and vertical transportation systems. The module aims to raise awareness of UN SDG 3: 鈥楪ood Health and Well Being鈥� and UN SDG 11: 鈥楽ustainable Cities and Communities鈥� and UN SDG 9: 鈥業ndustry, Innovation and Infrastructure鈥�.

To give students an understanding of environment management concepts and problems, implementing environment management system, classification of environmental management strategies, environmental management approaches, sustainability concepts, local and international certification schemes, sustainable urban development, legislation relating to sustainability.

Develop data visualisation skills and apply narrative elements and persuasive delivery techniques to communicate data effectively. Learn to craft compelling narratives, based on hard facts and data, to call stakeholders into taking action to tackle the SDGs.

This module aims to gives students an understanding of the material and methods employed in sustainable refurbishment, retrofitting and A&A including the associated temporary works like scaffolding, hoardings, temporary support systems, underpinning, etc. It also covers the safety considerations while refurbishment is in progress. Provides an overview and appreciation of the key features of Smart buildings within the context of facilities management. It covers building and facility systems, communications, business systems, technology solutions, like digitization, remote access, voice activated controls, mobile applications and the internet of things that contribute to sustainability and operational efficiency. Understanding of the functioning of these systems and devices, and the ability to capitalise on them as facilities managers will also be covered.

To provide students with an understanding of the installation, operation and maintenance of fire safety systems, relevant acts/regulations governing fire safety. To enable them to perform the duties of the fire safety manager.

This module aims to develop an understanding & ability to deal with the workplace鈥檚 safety, health and security issues in the workplace including the provisions of the Workplace Safety and Health Act 2006, WSH (Construction) Regulations 2007, SS: 545 for Hotel Security and other requirements. This module also aims to raise awareness of UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. The general workplace safety measures against falling from height, struck by falling objects, slipping & tripping hazards etc. The process of risk assessment and management, health & hygiene issues, accident investigation and prevention, loss prevention and security, asset security and emergency preparedness and response.

This module provides an understanding of the procurement for facilities management. It covers outsourcing models, procurement methods, tendering process, evaluation of tenders and tenderers, specification, tender documents, types of contracts, service level agreement including monitoring and managing performance of contracts.

This module aims to give students In-depth knowledge of a preselected topic relevant to their course of study through independent learning. The ability to develop initiative, self-reliance, innovation, creativity, organisation and team work in students, by making them work independently in a simulated work situation.

This module provides an understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and how BIM could be integrated with facilities management software to manage information, space and building operations. It equips students with the knowledge and skills to do simple drafting and editing of BIM models including packaging information for exchange or review. It also provides an understanding of the facilities management software and enables students to link BIM models to the software as well as to create space and asset inventories, and carry out space planning and building operation management.

This module provides an understanding of the project management in the context of facilities management in achieving client鈥檚 project objectives of time, cost and quality. It will cover all the stages of project management including initiation, planning, implementation, monitoring and commissioning of Asset enhancement Initiatives and Alteration and Addition projects. In addition to the fundamental principles, the module includes the practical application of Project Management software to create, plan and monitor project schedule and resources.

Aiming to equip students with capabilities to understand an existing smart infrastructure, or to design and implement a new smart solution, this module, covers a wide spectrum of fundamental technologies that can work together as shown below in order to build a smart city. Fundamentals of Digital IoT Architecture and System. Networking and Internet basics for connectivity so as to share information demographically. Various M2M communication methods on how data from/to various input/output devices (e.g. Sensors, actuators and displays, etc), are communicated from one device to another. Sensor Networks on how one can group, manage and deploy these sensors and actuators in field. The importance IoT security and understanding data analytics so as to examine and draw conclusion from the information gathered. Video Analytics Systems. Introduction to Cloud Computing in order to gain data insight on efficiency and productivity.

Equips students with hands-on professional experience through attachments to local companies and organisations. To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, students are required to maintain a reflective journal detailing their experiences and insights, develop a portfolio showcasing their work and achievements and submit documentations of their internship programme.
