The use of gas, such as LNG, and other low-flashpoint fuels as ships’ fuel has increased in recent years and poses additional safety challenges. Hence, to manage such challenges, the International Maritime Organisation adopted the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code) in 2015 and added related aspects to Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) convention.
This training course allows seafarers to comply with Regulation V/3 of the STCW Convention, ‘Mandatory minimum requirements for the training and qualifications of masters, ratings and other personnel on ships subject to the IGF Code.’
The course is designed for the seafarers responsible for fuels and fuels on board ships subject to the IGF Code. The course content complies with Section A-V/3, paragraph 2 of the STCW Code.
